FAQs

What happens if I find someone’s story hard to bear?

As this study is about real life experiences, and people have experienced real life traumas to varying degrees, there is a possibility that someone’s story may be difficult to hear or read.

One thing to remember is that you have complete control over what you choose to listen to, watch or read, and we are also working hard with the person who wants to share their story, to create the best possible outcome.

What if someone recognises me or my story?

We will not post anyone’s story without receiving their permission to do so in advance. Only a small number of stories will be shared on this site, and this is after careful consideration and consultation with the person who shared their experience with us.

One of the ways we can do this – is to type up the person’s story from the video or audio information, and give them a false name.

Why are you not posting everyone’s experience and stories on the website?

Some people’s experiences are still ongoing, and may be under appeal or review. The workers’ voice team wants to ensure that any sharing of individual circumstances does not create additional problems for the individual while their experience is ongoing. We will not post anyone’s story without receiving their permission to do so in advance.

What benefits and services does workers’ compensation fund?

There are a variety of different payments and services that workers’ compensation systems provide to or on behalf of injured workers. These are also sometimes called benefits. Some benefits are only available to certain people, for example people with very severe or complex injuries or diseases, or those with life-long disability resulting from the injury.
